There have been many medical advancements through research and technology. Unfortunately, there are still many unanswered questions when it comes to those who a neurotypical and those who are atypical, particularly younger individuals who have been diagnosed with a developmental disability. Throughout this paper, I will be using past findings and research to define Autism Spectrum Disorders, contrast milestones that neurotypical children and children with autism, and mention a few options for families who have a child with this disorder. Developmental psychology is one of many branches, in which there are many different definitions, however a similar tenet. Through the different developmental theories, it is agreeable that the majority of everyone that development consists of a series of changes that results on interactions that vary between biological and environmental factors (Whitley, 2009). The first few years of childrens learning and development are crucial. For neurotypical children, what are the developmental milestones and timeline? Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Autism Spectum Disorders Definition" essay for you Create order According to Wallace (2018), the term developmental disability is used to describe multiple disorders that can affect different domains of a child life such as their cognitive, language, and behavioral functioning. Specifically, Autism Spectrum Disorders are disabilities that can cause challenges with social and communication that vary with functioning levels (Wallace, 2018). This paper focuses on neurological development disorder called Autism. Autism can negatively affect a childs ability to communicate and interact socially. Those who have been diagnosed with Autism could show trouble in different areas, including emotion. For instance, children with Autism will not be able to communicate whether they are sad, mad, happy, etc (Wallace, 2018). Developmental Milestone The developmental milestone has been established in different domains, such as fine and gross motor, problem-solving, social, and language (Scharf, Scharf Stroustrup, 2016). During the first month of birth, the infant starts the attachment and security phase. Between six and eight weeks, the infant should be able to make appropriate responses such as cooing. At the age of four months, the infant will reach the milestones of rolling back and forth, shake objects and reach for things as well. When five and six months roll around, infants should be able to sit up, feed themselves with easy food, and become more aware of strangers. By nine months the infant should be very mobile and active when playtime and socializing (Schard, Scharf Stroustrup, 2016). A child can have delays in all ranges, which is own as global delay, which is defined as having delays in all areas of development. Those who show a delay in the developmental area does vary based on the individual. During the neonatal period of an infant, the delay might show lack of responding to loud sounds or the indifference between the infant and caregiver. An infant will show a delay around four months that has the possibility of being unable to make appropriate sounds, inability to roll. Those infants who are around the age of 6 months might not be able to smile, laugh, or express emotions with caregivers. At nine months, the infant will still not be able to be active and mobile and will show a disinterest with other babies their age (Scharf, Scharf Stroustrup, 2016). Those infants who may have a delay may not be able to respond to loud sounds during the neonatal period. According to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (2011), some few developmental delays include language delay, loss of speech, reduced responsiveness of expressions, rejection of cuddles, and absent awareness of personal space or interest with peer socialization. Those who have delays also tend to have repetitive behavior. Children like to have a daily schedule and tend to be very distraught if something messes up their schedule (Wallace 2018). Imitation is also a very crucial component of development during the first years of life. During the second year, imitation of sounds, gestures, and actions should increase as part of the process of learning about the world and negotiating social relationships. One study compared Autism Spectrum Disorders and development which showed that those who have delays in imitation might suggest something that could lead to social or communication deficits (Young, Rogers, Hutman, Rozga, Sigmanv Ozonoff, 2011). However, even though there is some consistency with these results from research it is still unclear on whether these developmental symptoms can be reliably diagnosed due to the young age of the participants. Red Flags A con to a developmental delay includes worry from parents. There are many reasons as to why a child could have delays in the developmental area. Children do not reach milestones at the exact same age as other children. Everyone varies when it comes to developments. Research has mentioned some red flags that is a reason for concern. These concerns can not only come from children but also from the parents as well. Previous data has shown that those caregivers who are unable to recognize infants cues, struggling with a disorder of their own, or decrease in opportunities for their child to play and learn attribute red flags for developmental delays of their children (Scharf, Scharf Stroustrup, 2016). There are many different reasons as to why an individual might show developmental delays. Past research has shown that prematurity, malformations in the cerebral area, chromosomal disorders, infections, and other diseases might be contributed to developmental delays (Premature infants are the leading cause of neurodevelopmental disabilities in children. Research supports this by stating those infants who are born prematurely have a significantly higher risk of behavioral and learning delays when compared to infants who make are born full term ( Scharf, Scharf Stroustrup, 2016). These delays that are seen in premature infants include cognition, language, and social fields. There studies that hav e shown that preterm infants are one of the leading causes of neurodevelopmental disabilities in children. When compared to those who are carried full-term, there are significantly increased risk of behavior disorders and learning (Scharf, Scharf Stroustrup 2016). Diagnostics and Factors Autism is considered to be among the most heritable neuropsychiatric disorder. A study done in Denmark, Fin-land with twins found higher concordance for monozygotic twins than for dizygotic twin and estimated a heritability of greater than ninety percent for Autism. The concordance rates were higher when Autism Spectrum Disorder was considered in addition to the strict diagnosis of Autism. However, even though there were high heritability estimates, identification of the genes responsible for the disorder remains elusive. Also, there has been data that has supported chromosomal structural alterations, such as duplications or deletions of chromosomes that have been identified in three to five percent of autism subjects (Brkanas, Rasking King, 2018). There are two major theorists in developmental psychology. Piaget and Vygotsky are both highly influential. Piaget’s theory uses four stages of development, while Vygotskys theory focuses more on human interaction as a way of development (Smith, 2003). Both have had an impact on todays developmental fundamentals. The learning process and social life are known to impact a child developmental stages. As stated earlier, there have been many advancements in the medical world. Comparing to just twenty years ago, there are many tools that can be used for screening which is more beneficial to rapidly identify individuals for further evaluation. Families have the option to have their child screened. What is screening? According to Wallace (2018), screening is defined as the administration of a standardized tool that will help is a diagnostic evaluation to determine if that child has a developmental disorder. Even though it is the parents final choice on whether they make the decision to allow their child to be screen early, if the parents say ‘yes’ to screening and their child has an identified â€Å"positive† for a disorder they make that decisions to have a clearer diagnosis by using more comprehensive history, testing, and examinations (Scharf, Scharf Stroustrup, 2016) . The earlier delays are detected the more time for medical professionals to be able to provid e intervention services. Early screening for Autism is now becoming a standard clinical practice, so for those who decide to opt into these early screenings, can being earlier interventions and treatments. The standard for diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder is based on clinical history and patient observation performed by trained clinicians. In today’s time, there are many kinds of services that are available for those individuals who show developmental delays. There are new technological discoveries in the genetics of autism that are allowing medical professionals to look into different approaches for diagnosis and treatment. With children who show delays, there is a range of domains that might be affected by this delay. For example, domains in social, cognition, or motor skills will be affected and render the ability to play with other kids, communication impairment, etc. (Scharf, Scharf Stroustrup, 2016). Tools such as the Denver Developmental Screening Test, Ages Stages Questionnaires, and the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers are used by clinicians, each test used for specific assessments (Scharf, Scharf Stroustrup, 2016). There are also other diagnostic tools t hat can be used by trained clinicians. These structured diagnostic tools are the Autism Diagnostic Interview and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (Brkanas, Raskind King, 2008). Children who do exhibit red flags are usually referred to as therapy. For example, those who show language delays can be sent to therapists that focus on speech and language such as speech pathologists. There are also options for children who show delays but have no known history of disorders can be referred to a genetic specialist to run different assessment and genetic testing (Scharf, Scharf Stroustrup, 2016). Basic goals for intervention services are to enhance the childs current development trajectory and reduce the potential for long-term disability. Past data has shown that those children who do receive early intervention are developing better than those who do not receive early intervention services, which showed improvement in cognition, social interaction, and communication skills (Wallace, 2018). Conclusion There are new technological discoveries in the genetics of Autism that are enabling different approaches to the diagnosis and treatment. Being able to fully emerge and understand the role of genetics, the approach to Autism will be altered forever. Autism is such a complex disorder that that with any of the still-emerging understanding of the different roles of genetic, environmental, and social domains that there will continue to undoubtedly affect diagnostic and treatment approaches. However, it is important to remember that although there are milestones that are used to determine developmental growth, if an individual does not meet that age-appropriate milestone that does not mean that they for certainty have a disability, the individual could easily be contributed to late development. ?

The Kite Runner Symbolism Analysis - 753 Words

Shajanika Rasu Ms.Gulej ENG2D1 1 May 2017 SYMBOLS USED IN KHALED HOSSEINI’S THE KITE RUNNER Symbolism is a literary device found in all mediums. Symbols are marks or words that designate the significant features in a piece of literature. They allow people to connect to the many concepts found in the literary works. The novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, showcases this notion of symbolism well. These symbols come full circle by the end of the novel as they represent pivotal moments in the close bond Amir and Hassan share. Within the novel, Hosseini uses a kite to symbolize the themes of loyalty and power, blood to symbolize familial bonds and violence-against self and others, and a slingshot to symbolize self-defence and childhood.†¦show more content†¦It is Baba’s blood that creates the half-brother bond between them. Secondly, the blood represents self-inflicted harm within the novel. For instance, in the quote, â€Å"the water drops dripping from the faucet and landing with a plink into the b loody bath water; the left arm dangling over the side of the tub, the blood-soaked razor sitting on the toilet tank† (Hosseini 366), Amir describes what he saw in the bathroom where Sohrab attempted suicide. Since blood is involved in Sohrab’s suicide, blood represents the self-inflicted harm. Lastly, blood represents the general violence as seen throughout the novel. A woman and a man were stoned to death by the Taliban at the Ghazi stadium and their clothes were soaked in blood. Horrendous moments of war time in Afghanistan which resulted in blood can be considered as general violence. Therefore, â€Å"Blood is a powerful thing, bachem† (Hosseini 324). The third instance of symbolism in Hosseini’s novel is the sling-shot. Firstly, it demonstrates self-defence. For example, â€Å"His hand was cocked above his shoulder, holding the cup of the slingshot at the end of the elastic band which was pulled all the way back† (Hosseini 304), at this point, Sohrab raises his sling shot and points at Assef’s left eye. Reduce Cost Free Essays

In the unpredictable economic times prevalent contemporarily, organizations and economies all over the world are devising strategies that can prove effective in providing them sanctuary from the looming threat of increasing expenditures. However, there are a number of ways through which these expenses can be controlled in an intelligent and less intimidating way. First and foremost, a careful analysis of the sectors where your budget goes wild is significant in taming the money animal. We will write a custom essay sample on Reduce Cost or any similar topic only for you Order Now Sometimes it is difficult to reduce an increase item, but more profits can be generated from the increased item if the expense analysis is conducted in a careful way. It is therefore important during analysis that one must make use of percentages rather than actual dollar amounts. For instance if your main objective is to surge sales it is important that the dollar expense is kept the same, by implementing this method you have actually decreased the expense of sale as a percentage which will eventually manifest itself in the form of increased profits. Similarly if the sales volume of an item remains constant, the percentage of profit can still be increased by reducing a particular component contributing to expense. Through such a policy you will be able to successfully achieve both objectives: to decrease the alarming expense and increase the productivity at the same time. Another tool that can effectively be utilized when discussing ways to reduce costs and expenses is ingeniously prioritize the expenditures that are mandatory and those that can temporarily be sidelined. The prioritization is also important as it allows organizations to make decisions accordingly in order to frame their objectives towards acquiring goals that they feel are important for the prosperity of the organization rather than focusing entirely on places which are not that productive. Pros and Cons of Outsourcing One of the areas which have turned out to be a nightmare for the domestic labor market of the United States is the outsourcing. The phenomenon is associated with adverse economic as well as social repercussions. Statistics reveal that majority of the country’s native labor force regards outsourcing as a slow poison to their employment opportunities. This was easily manifested when during a survey 1,019 adults when inquired about outsourcing, 60% of them straight forwardly polled in negative, whereas only 23% said that it was important for financial rejuvenation. In addition to this over 40% companies are involved either in experimenting or are already engaged in shifting their services overseas in search of cheap labor and services that are being provided by countries like China and India. However on the flip side pro-outsourcing advocates claim that by implementing upon outsourcing new job opportunities can be explored as there are also a number of government agencies that outsource their work to different country labor which saves them millions of dollars directly affecting consumer spending as well as expenses being handled by the state treasury. Long and short term issues related to outsourcing A key issue that arises out of outsourcing is finding a satisfactory answer to the question whether outsourcing in future will facilitate the creation of greater employment opportunities. Short-term issues concerning the entire matter are the hypothetical, euphoric and speculative nature between the two major elements and assume that one-to-one replacement of people can easily take place, but in dynamic market situations such as those faced by US markets, prevalence of such conditions are almost next to impossible because price and income both exhibit an elastic nature. Many economic models proposed by prominent economists fail to address these fundamental flaws which are quite dominant in the economic setup of the country. Furthermore in the long run outsourcing can be used as an effective tool for substantial economic gains which can be achieved through proper maintenance of service record which is very important as your customer will be something more than just a simple vendor, effective outsourcing and its fruitful results can only be obtained if the specific customer can readily address the outsourcer in a timely manner and can resolve all complications and difficulties encountered by the outsourcer in performing the task. Another very important factor that is often overlooked by many is the presence of properly trained and managed staff for the outsourcing work. When a customer provides a company with work, he invests a feeling of trust and credibility in the name of the company and therefore it is mandatory for the outsourcer or the outsourcing company itself to live up to his expectations and refrain from practices that may putrid the relation between the client and the service provider. Business Ethics Market Discipline and Eu Corporate Governance

Question: Discuss about the Business Ethics for Market Discipline and Eu Corporate Governance? Answer: In the year 2007, Goldman Sachs approached an insurance firm named ACA to invest and place on any one side of a financial wager. This instrument was named Abacus 2007-AC1 was only made for an institutional client (familiar with the organization) named John A. Paulson, the manager of Paulson Company. When the traders of Goldman met ACA, they produced many mortgage investments. It affected the financial condition of the company. In the year 2010, the Securities and Exchange Commission charged the Vice President and the company with cheating on the investors through financial products that are linked with subprime mortgages (Avgouleas Cullen, 2014). Goldman Sachs was one such company that survived during the financial crisis period. However, the company was charged with cheating on the clients by selling them securities on mortgage that were designed secretly by John Paulson. The US government found that he made a betting of killing on the collapse of the housing market. The company denied the charges of the Securities and Exchange Commission and that created a big clash between the regulators and Wall Street. The shares of the company fell by 13% and this strengthened the position of the American President Barrack Obama. The product was complex and new. However, the conflicts and deception are simple and old. The Vice President of the company, Tourre, prepared the materials for marketing and structured the process of transaction. He had a direct communication with the investors of the business (O'Hare, 2014). Tourre was aware of the undisclosed interest of Paulson and his role in the process of collateral selection. He convince d and informed ACA to believe that Paulson Company had invested $200 million in the project ABACUS 2007-AC1. He also made them believe that they shred common interests. However, the reality was somewhat different. Their interests were quite conflicting. The SEC complains that Paulson Company had cut short the portfolio of RMBS and he was helped by taking entry into credit default swaps. The company had an economic opportunity to select RMBS for the selected task (Bidwell et al. 2015). When the government found that Paulson Company had cheated on their investors, it took several measures to decrease the fraudulent activities and accused Goldman Sachs on ground of fraud. It forced them to sell off their securities that catered to the collapse of the housing market. The housing market began to sink in the period between 2007 and 2008 and because of this, the new project suffered huge loss during this period. The Government found that when the market sank, it provided Paulson with an opportunity to make a profit of nearly $1 billion. The Government found him guilty of paying $15 million to Goldman Sachs for modeling and structuring the bonds of the said project (Lloyd, 2014). The company is a very big trader of bonds and stocks. It suffered a loss of nearly $90 million on the process of transaction. The investors were provided about sufficient information regarding the act of fraudulence. It was also found by the US government that the traders involved in the headqua rters of the company stopped working after this fraud. Paulson and Goldman have been working together since 1994 (from the establishment of firm of hedge fund). Paulson and his associates bought protection of toxic mortgages for millions of dollar. He wanted to expand his business. Deutsche Bank and Goldman were the firms that agreed to put deals for Paulson Company. The hedge fund selected a security list to form the foundation of CDOs. The target customers of the bonds (mortgage) were informed about the credit ratings of the firms (Hurley, Gong Waqar, 2014). When the laws of economies were defied by the housing market, the American economy had already made its way towards a new phase of sustainable growth. An exchange took place that included the financial product that was arranged by the company, Goldman Sachs. The firm also formulated high finance that led the company to adapt fraudulent activities. The firm set a gambling between the long side and wager. One side speculated that there would be an increase in the housing prices while the other side speculated that there would be a decrease in the housing prices (Keenan, 2015). Numerous factors led to the fraudulent activities adopted by Paulson Company that ultimately caused the project to decline in the potential or the target market. The factors led to involvement of the company in fraudulent activities and it has been charged with cases of cheating on the investors. However, the company has improved since then and they continue to deliver quality services that led to the profitability factor of the company. They regained their position in the potential market and earning high returns on investment due to improved techniques and methodologies. References Avgouleas, E., Cullen, J. (2014). International Relation & Global Economy

Question: Discuss about theInternational Relation Global Economy. Answer: Introduction The topic of this essay is to find out how thestrong growth in China had affected the Australian manufacturing industry over the past decade. This essay is developed by combining ideas gathering from various articles. In this essay, the relationship between the two countries is analyzed. It has been found that the asymmetric in the Chinese economy is not a new problem. However, it can develop problem in future for the reason that there is a key reliance on a small set of resources of minerals. Although it has been found that export to China are approximately 5.7 GDP. It is a big section of the Australian economy (Beeson and Zeng 2016). Australia heavily depends on China for exporting goods. According to Warner (2016), Australias exports of services and goods to China have developed from $9 billion in the year of 2005 to $80 billion in the year of 2013. This export of goods of Australia to China represents nearly 26% annual growth of the country. As a result, China has become the biggest export market of Australia. This strong growth in Australian exports to China over the period 2005 to 2013 was due to strong urbanization and industrialization in the country (Gilpin 2016). This growth in China was considerably above the world average development for the same period. In addition, resource and commodity exports of Australia rose from $4bn to $63bn in the year of 2011 which was 45% of total exports in China. Economic relation between Australia and China can be understood after analyzing some major aspects between these two countries. First of all, according to Frost (2012), Australia is Chinas second most popular location for direct investment. Over the last 10 years, Australia has experienced the second highest volume of direct investment by China. Rom 2005 to 2015, only the US had a higher accumulated total. Within this time period, Australia received nearly US$80bn in Chinese overseas direct investment. Till the end of 2015 it was found that this investment done by China has increased up to US$11bn. On the other hand, most of the investment done by China was dedicated to real estate. A KPMG report was carried out with the help of University of Sydney estimated that real estate investment hit AUD$7bn n the year of 2015. As mentioned by Gilpin (2016), most of this investment done by China was focused in just one state which is New South Wales. It was found that renewable energy and heal th care was the next top investment areas. This second place was resulted because of huge deal took place between Chinas State Power Investment Corporation and Pacific Hydro. Relationship between both the countries was enhanced when The China-Australia Free Trade Agreement was signed in the year of 2015. Based on the values of 2014, more than 90% of Australian good that will be exported to China will be duty free Holmes (2016). It is expected that this number will increase up to 94% by 2019 and 98% by 2029. As mentioned by Frost (2012), Australian tariffs on Chinese imports will also be eliminated progressively. On the other hand, it is also expected that this agreement will improve Chinese tourism to Australia. According to the International Institute of Education, in the year of 2014, there were nearly 90,000 Chinese students studying in Australia (Beeson and Wilson 2015). As published in The Australian Business Review, education is the champion among all other exports of Australi a. Free Trade Agreement between China and Australia was signed in the year of 2014 between President XI Jinping and Prime Minister Tony Abbott. As a result of this agreement, investment and trade relationship between the two countries will improve considerably. On the other hand, increasing number of Australia businesses are moving into the Chinese market and gaining great success. Besides, China has already spent nearly $170 billion in Australias research and development sector. It is also found that Chinas this investment in RD if Australia has improved by 20% each year for the past six years (Beeson and Wilson 2015). On the other hand, resource partnership between Australia and China has stimulated from trade in possessions to direct investment in projects. China has recently uttered their interest in infrastructure development of the country of Australia. It is also true that there is an huge deficit across Australian resource projects and local communities. As mentioned by Weatherb ee (2014), regional communities are struggling extremely to allure funding and services. That is why; Chinese investors are planning to engage with those communities to gain great support at a grass root level. It has been found that rise of China has transformed the economic and strategic environment of Australia (Beeson and Wilson 2015). The simple reality is that China is exerting an increasingly powerful influence on both the structure of the Australian economy. There are various industries in which the impact of China is prominent. They are such as manufacturing industry and hospitality industry. Chinese visitors are also playing a major role in the tourism sector of Australia. According to the reports published by tourism sector of Australia, last year the country was able to attract nearly 50,000 Chinese tourists. It is also expected that till 2020, Australia will be able to attract nearly 1 million tourists per year. From the article of Austrade Economics (2005), it has been found that China is presently the most significant export market since 2009 to 2010. China is considered as the largest export market for both goods and service from 2013. The total value of Australian products exported in China is approximately A$ 107 billion. China is accounted for 32.5%. It reached 33% in the year of 2015 (Beeson and Wilson 2015). From the research work developed by Plumb et al. (2013), it has been found that twine growth in China has weighty impact on the Australian economy over the past few years. It is most prominent in resource sector (especially in case of iron ore). It has been found that there are presently 5, 500 Australian exporters available in China who are currently involved in selling products in China. It has been found that China alone accounted for 76% of exports in the same year (Morrison 2012). It holds 17% earning of the Australian manufacturing companies. Since 2004, China is considered as the largest export market for Australia. From the research work develop by Holmes (2016), it has been found that Australia depends heavily on foreign investment. China ranks 9th in foreign direct investment in Australia with 3% share. However, the investment is growing rapidly in the last decade. It is evident that Chinese companies are keen to invest in Australia, especially in infrastructure and manufacturing sector (Kang and Jiang 2012). However, the change of saving rate has increased the interest rate in China. In order to solve these issues, the Australian and Chinese governments have established a new diplomatic infrastructure in the year of 2013. It provides an important platform for both the governments to progress negotiations around the free trade agreement. It also helps to develop other investment and trade links and resolve issues. After analyzing all the articles related with the topic, a common pattern has been found. It is evident that most of the Australian Manufacturing companies like to import their resources from China as it is cheaper. In addition it has been found that there is a heavy dependence on the Chinese economy for their exports and investments. It made China to be admirable and useful market for Australia. However it has been found that reliance with China has both positive and negative aspects. However, the positive aspects are more prominent than the negative aspects. It has been found that the market share of China in the FDI in Australia is increasing very rapidly. It has made business more profitable for Australian manufacturers.
