Health Promotion Is The Process Of Enabling People...

â€Å"Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over, and improve their health.† (World Health Organization [WHO], [1986]). It focuses on empowering individual, family and community abilities to improve their health and to understand how to have control over their health. It also assesses the social determinants of health and identifies health goals that ensure community people to implement and sustain good health according to needs. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the roles of the nurse in promoting the health of community people in disease condition of diabetes in relation to the Ottawa charter’s five major strategies of Health promotion they are; build healthy public policy, create supportive environments, strengthen community actions, develop personal skills and reorient health services (McMurray, A., Clendon, J.2015). When in the body, the pancreas cannot make or cannot produce sufficient insulin, the glucose channels are closed following building up of glucose in the blood leading to high blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia) which cause the health problems known as diabetes (Diabetes, 2016).
